Award Ceremony “gebaut” for the Project “Elisabethinen Wien-Mitte”

Our architects were on-site to celebrate the opening of the exhibition of the awarded projects and the prize presentation for the "Elisabethinen Wien-Mitte" project.

Delta Pods Architects was responsible for the renovation, conversion, and expansion of “Elisabethinen Wien-Mitte” from 2013 until autumn 2022. Within the DELTA Group, the services provided included architecture, general planning with site supervision, and partial project management.

The area unites various user groups across 30,000 square meters: it houses a hospital, a nursing home, and a convent. Completed in 2022, the project stands as a model example of urban densification and social sustainability.

Construction challenges included considerations for monument protection, archaeological findings, the outdoor facilities with the historic mulberry tree (Vienna Natural Monument No. 4), as well as new construction and renovation during ongoing operations. The project has already been awarded the CCC-Award (Construction, Consulting, Culture) and received the Monument Protection Medal of the Republic of Austria (2023).

The “gebaut” architecture award was presented by City Councilor for Innovation, Urban Planning, and Mobility, Ulli Sima, and the MA19 – Architecture and Urban Design (Department Head Franz Kobermaier and Section Head Irene Lundström).

We congratulate the architecture team on the award:
Markus Hiden, Ana Jugovic, Philipp Peneder, Thomas Wolf.
